Audio Visual Client Services Technician - San Jose, CA

Our Bay Area Client has multiple locations and is a full-service residential and commercial audiovisual provider. From consultation, through design, installation, programming and long term support, all their services are provided in house by their extensive and knowledgeable technical staff. The Company has completed hundreds of projects for some of the most influential and innovative companies in the world.


The Client Services Technician installs, services and/or programs low-voltage systems in residential and/or commercial projects. This position requires an individual with great customer skills, is professional, and has strong time management skills, a good knowledge of multiple control systems and a good concept of programming.


Advanced computer skills and knowledge of Windows applications, Microsoft Office, and web applications.

Familiarity with Apple IOS products (Apple TV, iPad, Airport Express, iPhone/iTouch, OS10, etc.) as they relate to daily use for interfacing with and controlling integrated homes and/or home networks.

Ability to navigate around PC and Mac computers.

Able to navigate around PC, file structures, the control panel and command line prompts.

Advanced knowledge of electronics application and theory.

Full understanding of the pre-wire, trim and final phases of a project, including proper use of all associated tools and jobsite safety.

Able to read and understand device layout drawings, engineered schematics and provide redline corrections and construction blueprints as they pertain to A/V industry.

Advance understanding of Ethernet network system setup, able to set port forwarding, MAC addressing and basic configuration.

Expert knowledge of all test equipment.

Advance understanding of serial communication language protocols.

Able to demonstrate expert knowledge of the Company’s product line.

Able to trim phone & data jacks, speakers, volume controls, IR receivers keypads, touch screens, and other devices unsupervised.

Expert knowledge and understanding of wire differentiation, connectors, connections, splicing, and head-end termination.

Practices exceptional wire management and dressing skills. (Racks, interconnects and wire runs in construction unsupervised)

Able to mount video displays and projectors, terminate wires, and perform ISF calibration unsupervised.

Able to install, set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot multi-room audio systems unsupervised.

Able to install, test, setup and troubleshoot advance AV receivers unsupervised, and have an advance understanding of acoustics.

Able to trim and punch down phone connections, terminate between phone distribution and KSU, and have the skills to test, troubleshoot, do basic programming and voicemail unsupervised.

Able to program RTI, URC, Sonance and Niles audio remotes, keypads, and touch screens.

Able to setup Crestron, Savant and AMX remotes, keypads, and touch screens unsupervised.

Understanding of cable TV systems -termination, distribution amps, signal balancing, and able to test and troubleshoot unsupervised.

Understanding of satellite TV systems-termination, dish assembly, aiming of dish, termination of multi-switch, and skills to test and troubleshoot unsupervised.

Able to install modems and routers and ability to test and troubleshoot network systems.

Able to install, test, and aim CCTV cameras and perform setup of CCTV DVRs.

Understanding of wiring requirements for sub-systems, like HVAC and security systems, integration to control systems and setup of thermostats unsupervised.

Understanding of wiring requirements for Crestron, Savant, AMX, and similar networks.

Understanding of Crestron, AMX and/or Savant control systems and able to support the programming department with downloads.

Understanding of wiring requirements for Lutron, Crestron, and Vantage lighting control systems and ability to program and to support the programming department with downloads.

Understanding of Lutron shading systems wiring requirements and able to install and perform set up.

Job Benefits

$35.00 to $50.00 per hour. DOE.
